Supported by ASO, CSOs Accomplish Two Initiatives to Spread Awareness on the Risks of Domestic Violence
A number of CSOs, members of the NGO platform in NES, have finished two social initiatives to spread awareness on the risks of domestic violence in light of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
6 organizations and associations have implemented two awareness initiatives in the governorates of Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, supported by ASO Center for Consultancy and Strategic Studies within the activities of the project of enhancing participatory democracy approach in NES.
Giwan Khalaf, the Grants Officer of "enhancing participatory democracy approach" project said that the aim of supporting the CSOs to implement social initiatives, was a natural consequence and particularly under the increasing cases of domestic violence against women during the imposed curfew to curb the Spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Khalaf assured in his statement to ASO, ''the importance of networking and coordination between CSOs to work on spreading social awareness of the mechanisms of protection and prevention from domestic violence and its future disadvantages and the response to the necessities of this phase in light of the current circumstances of the region.''
Moreover, these two initiatives focused on social awareness to limit domestic violence and to spread awareness on how to handle psychological pressures that children and women are subjected to in the governorates of Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.
The Grants Officer clarified in the project of enhancing participatory democracy approach, that these initiatives were based on the demands and proposals of the members of the NGO platform in NES as the initiative is a part of improving the tools of participatory work in the different issues.
Organizations participating in both initiatives are EFC, F.T.R.O. and Taif in Deir Ezzor governorate and they concentrated on awareness seminars and sessions on how families should deal with their females and teenagers, in addition to the tools of easing domestic tension.
While the organizations of Anwar Al-Ghad, Diyar and Four Seasons, have implemented awareness activities for women and men to mitigate the psychological pressures resulting from quarantine, as well as, awareness on gender concepts and basic principles of human rights and distributing brochures in centres and public places in Raqqa governorate.
ASO's grants aim to develop the foundations of cooperation and networking between organizations and local associations in NES.
It is worth noting that these initiatives are part of the grant provided by ASO Center for Consultancy and Strategic Studies, to organizations and local associations which are members of the NGO platform in NES within the project of enhancing participatory democracy approach to mitigate the consequences of COVID-19 pandemic and to spread awareness on the risks of domestic violence in light of the outbreak of the virus.
