Dialogue Session on Dialogue Culture and Acceptance of The Other

2019-01-28
Attendees and Beneficiaries Number: 18 (politicians and civil society activists)

In continuation of ASO Center activities on civic education in Al-Hasaka Governorate, the center held a dialogue session at its center in Amuda on dialogue and acceptance culture.
The facilitator emphasized the importance of dialogue and acceptance of different perspectives and groups, since it is essential to spread the culture of tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of different opinions because such a culture is a strong consolidation of national unity among all individuals.
Participants agreed that dialogue is the right way to resolve all outstanding issues, and that it is the right alternative to imposing beliefs, and that through dialogue we can keep communication, love and peace. Additionally, they stressed that one of dialogue principles is multicultural-acceptance, and this does not necessarily mean the absolute approval of them; it is rather an acknowledgment of the existence of such a difference and acceptance the others' views as long as this culture is not based on suppressing the rights of any views/groups.
Dialogue culture strengthens the belief in democracy, tolerance, pluralism, freedom of expression, in addition to personal and public liberties, and that we accept different opinions, without being biased on race, religion, color, social background, political tendencies or any other issues, since such disagreement or difference does not be affect anyone's existence or life critically.
