CSOs of Al-Hassakah release a clear message: " By the Consensus We Tackle Challenges".
On 2022\10\17-16, ASO organized the general meetings aimed to set the structure and functioning of NGO platform in NES.
The meeting started with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, and welcoming the honorable representatives of the institutions and the organizations, many key aspects had been discussed in terms of providing an overview about the role of the platform and its own achievements in the past two years, and the participants discussed the difficulties and obstacles regarding the main duties of the platform like mobilization, advocacy for the local issues, connecting the organizations, donors , CSOs, and external actors with each other.
And for further benefits in field of capacity-building of the member organizations, in addition, they firmly stressed the need of re-establishing the platform.
And also, the director of programs at ASO said:" The opportunity to achieve the desired goal is possible as long as we take into account that there is not just a single and fixed path, conversely, there is a set of paths enable every single individual and each organization to pass through it".
ASO has reviewed and presented a numerous models of civil network structures around the world, in order to benefit from their experiences, then, the participants began an extensive discussion ended up choosing a flexible uncomplicated structure ensures performing the duties of the platform instead of choosing a complicated structure may hinder the whole process by the bureaucracy and negative effects.
And after the approving the ideal structure, a discussion took place in terms of choosing the most effective electoral model, and the "women's quota" was unanimously approved, by 37% percent of the vote, and also the conditions that candidates must fulfil has been determined.
Five candidates have won the election represented by: 2 women and 3 men and they pledged that they take the responsibilities upon themselves.
In concluding the meeting, the participants expressed their appreciation to ASO's initiatives and efforts.
